My Bio

Marie ReamerBorn and raised in NJ, Marie developed an early appreciation of art from numerous trips to the art museums of Manhattan. While in college she developed a passion for photography, spending many hours in the darkroom. Since moving to Indianapolis in 1979, Marie refined her craft through the Indianapolis Art Center, taking many courses on photography and the darkroom. After her husband’s job assignment took them to England in 1998, Marie and her family traveled extensively through Europe where she captured many interesting and unique images. Upon their return to Indianapolis, her passion for photography was refocused utilizing digital photography for both capturing and printing her images.

Marie has received numerous awards in local photographic competitions and has been published in The Visitor’s Guide to Indianapolis and Indianapolis Monthly Magazine. Recent shows include the Eagle Creek Nature Exhibit in 2008 and the Cool Creek Nature Exhibit in 2009 and 2010, where she received a second place cash prize for her work, “Zinnia’s Tears”. Her current showing at the ArtSplash Gallery is a departure from the artist’s usual themes of flowers and nature. By capturing photos in urban settings and digitally enhancing the images, the artist explores a range of compositional experiments that balance light, color and graphic form.
